joeseph "smells like turd"  More info | given the issue is showing in pics at 1/250 (from exif) I see no point in testing at higher speeds, it's clearly faulty. I have a suspicion that Canon may not hold spares for these anymore so a repair may prove difficult. Best return it... some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
