It has now been over a month since I sent in for a rebate on my 70-300mm VC, which I understand is par for the course for mail-in rebates. Just wondering, how long did it take you all to receive "cash back" from Tamron? Did they acknowledge receipt of your rebate form by email, like they say they do?

That seems too long. I've done 2 Tamron rebates, but it was a few years ago. #1 was acknowledged by email 12 days after I mailed it in, and I got the rebate check 2 days later (total 14 days). #2 was never acknowledged by email but I got the rebate check 8 days after mailing it in. (Yes, that's right, 8 calendar days, including 2 or 3 days mailing time each way.)

Update: This is absolutely maddening. I just received a response letter from Tamron stating that they did not receive my "box cut out" and thus cannot give me my rebate (I DID include the cutout, they must have lost it). I contacted "customer service" and they referred me to the voicemail of a woman who seems to be too busy to care (her VM message says "If you're calling regarding a rebate, please hang up and email me"). What's the next step? I can't return the item to B&H, looks like small claims court might be in my future?

I'd contact them back, email photos of the box and explain that you sent it with the form. I taped my cutout to the paper so it wouldn't fall out.

see what they say then.

Taped mine as well! Left loose, too many chances for stuff to go through the cracks!
I''d photograph the box with the "cut out void" and send it too them.
Surely somebody there has the authority to override the rigidity in the policy.
Go with the sugar rather than the vinegar............at least at this stage.
Good luck!

Was the rebate processed by tamron or a 3rd party? I understand you got the response from tamron, but it could be have just relaying a message from a 3rd party. It is common for manufacturers to outsource rebate processing to 3rd parties.

Tamron Rebates, 258 W Old Country Rd., Hicksville, NY 11801 is the address listed on the "letter" I received. So I would assume Tamron. Honestly I don't care who they use for rebate fulfillment - if the mfg. offers a rebate they are responsible for delivering on the promotion.

Yeah I definitely should have taped it. It's a silly requirement though. You'd think a multinational corporation could track which serial numbers have been issued rebates and which have not without requiring the "send in your box tops" game.

The cut-out is so you can't apply for a rebate and then return the item to the retailer for a full refund.

Best of luck -- I hope things work out.
