Four of my strobes are the older Genesis 400's and 200ws.

The only problem I find with the older Genesis strobes is that the mount that allows you to angle the strobe is very weak and cannot support a large softbox or 22" beauty dish. After a few use it will eventually strip the mount that hold the strobe in position.

I had to go to home depot and buy a new bolts and large washers to fix it and have a handy wrench to hold the other end while I tighten the mount into position.

I see the new AS500 specs says it will recycle at full power in less than 1 sec and also support high speed shutter of 1/8000 in high speed flash mode.

Has anyone bough these new AS strobes and is the mount better and improved.
