need help

Here is an image that my friend took of my niece and I at my wedding this summer. It was my first time outline something and pasting it into a background but it still looks edgy to me...How can I soften the edges without softening the entire photo....

It's your selection process, I think. After you select, click to modify selection and reduce by a few pixels. That will prevent the halo around the girls. Then feather by a few also..it depends on your resolution, so you need to experiment with the amounts of both things I've told you, but it's a start.

Without the Photoshop file (or equivalent) it's almost impossible to rework this - but ootsk is right; feathering the edges when you've made the selection is going to be important, and you may have to modify the selection a little first.

There's also some red-eye that could be usefully dealt with.

Probably too soft but I gave it a try anyway....As DavidW Said its pretty hard to do anything with this image without the original.... but hey I gave it 30 sec. and got rid of the red eye!

Only if you have the whole PS files w/ layers intact, goto layer/matting/defringe​. Start w/ 1 pixel width and work your way up. Make sure you use undo or ctrl+z to go back each time you increase the pixel width. Definge will help blend the two image together. I also recommend feathering the crop to help blending the image.

I did a little editing recropped and defringe and a little level and color adjustment and some sharpening and noise reduction.
