Hi all, Just got the Rebel T3i for Christmas and am now using the movie function.
Once transferred to my computer and try to view the file, I am only getting part of the video but all of the sound.
I downloaded the two CD's that came with the cqmera and would think that they would contain the proper software to view .MOV files.
Any help of suggestions on what I should be using to read the .MOV files would be helpful....

Canon's zoom browser should be able to view it as well. I generally convert with mpeg streamclip to avi. I believe Windows Live Movie Maker will edit MOV files directly as well. (not to be confused with Windows Movie Maker)

It's not so much the video format as the H.264 codec used with most DSLR videos. You can convert to .avi with H.264 codec and still have the same problem with choppy videos. Change the H.264 codec to say XVID or MPEG4 and the problem is solved. From what I read some time ago, the reason there is no way to play a video in DPP is because of the H.264 codec. One would have to convert out of H.264 first before playing the video in DPP. It could get a bit messy.

Now interestingly,,I can transfer video files directly off the SD card out of my 700D onto my Samsung tablet and they play beautifully.

I use Freemake video converter which gives me a choice of video formats and codecs.

It's a free programme which works a treat. Also good for ripping DVDs.

Convert the mov file to a much widely used format like mp4 using AppGeeker.

It's real fast and easy and gets you your videos in high quality.
