I just Purchased a 5D MkIII (Body Only) "BRAND NEW" for $2,999.99 W/18 months interest free financing. Is that a pretty good deal? Also just curious to see what other forum members have paid for their 5D MkIII recently.

Canon 5D Mark III (Gripped), Canon 7D (Gripped), 70-200mm 1:2.8 L IS II USM, 24-105 L, 28-135mm, 75-300mm, 50mm 1.8, 580 EXII, Canon ST-E3-RT, Canon 600EX-RT X's 3 And not nearly enough time/good weather to enjoy it.

I haven't bought any bodies recently but I think by now Canon should have lowered the price on the 5D MIII to around the $2599 price range. It seems a marketing strategy to not release any more higher end bodies and keep riding the same horse until it drops so to speak.

The 7D & 1D whatever bodies should at least be seen as being on the horizon but so far in the body wars it looks as though the Canon pond has become stagnant to say the least. I do understand that the 7D and 5D MIII are very capable bodies but with Sony pushing the envelope in what sensors are capable of in both mirrorless and dslr bodies Canon is in serious jeopardy of losing customers due to their silence. While I still have all my Canon lens including a 28-70 f/2.8 I've just recently picked up, I'm currently in the process of deciding between a Nikon D800 or D600 and some comparable glass to see if I want to make a full switch or stick with Canon awhile longer.

Now back to your original question, the price you paid is slightly lower than what I've seen the new ones going for so I would say you did well. Congrats and enjoy the camera as it does seem to be an excellent body.

I received an email from BEST BUY! for a 1-DAY Sale on certain items. So I saved $400.00 on it plus they gave me a $50.00 Gift Card. And also got the 18 Months INTEREST FREE financing. I caught the same deal on my 7D a few years back as well, I think I got it with the 28-135 kit lens for $1479.99 with the Interest free financing as well. I went back the next day to buy another and the sale was over...........As far as my new purchase, Now all I have to do is tell the Wifey! Thank GOD I have a job where all I have to do is pick up the phone, and I can get all of the overtime I want. With that being said, My Wife won't see me for about two weeks... But, I will be at work getting acquainted with my new purchase and getting it payed off. She'll still be mad, but oh well......Wifey's Just Don't Understand.

Damn, I just thought about it, I should have checked all of their lenses too. On second thought it's probably good that I didn't.:)

I paid 2500 for mine thru canon's refurb store, 178 clicks on it and a 1 year warranty, about the only way to get the price lower I believe.

Look at it this way, she is going to be mad about something, you just saved her the time of figuring out what. :D

Oh yeah, enjoy that new camera, it is a great body!

I was thinking the same way. I see folks choosing Handles like "Canon Novice" or similar ones and realize that they won't always be that.

A word of advice to the OP on his interest free loan: Don't be late with any payment or miss a payment. Also make sure they count every payment correctly. I had one of those loans and when I went to their office to make the last payment and get a "paid in full" receipt, it turned out that it wasn't quite payed in full. If you do any of these things, you will owe them the full interest for the load from start to finish.
That loan company I went to to make my last payment were quite angry that I payed it off without them getting any interest. It is a good deal if you strictly follow all the rules.
The only reason that loan companies make those offers is that the majority of people end up paying full interest.

Enjoy that new body. I would love to have one myself. (maybe someday).
