If they have used the latest CCD sensor technology

I hope you mean CMOS.

. My main concern is what it will cost me. If the rumored price is $700...I think thats out of my budget. $500 is more like it and hopefully theres great deals on it to bump it down in price. Maybe even pick it up used or wait a few months for price to drop.

Come on, for this much sensor, glass & tech to be under Sony's RX100 is asking a bit too much. Best Buy has it up on there site (external link) now.

Interesting.....

Compare the size to the current G1x and it is the same.....just a little shorter since there is no VF

Looks like the rings on the front are control dials, that would good since they removed them from the body.

Since the g1x is selling for $549 currently, I'm guess the mkii has got to go for $700....similar pricking to what Sony did with the rx100 and rx100 II.......

Ah true. I completely forgot about pricing of G1 X.

I'm hoping for either a nice chunk of change drops on my lap, a nice raise or a nice sale price for the G1 X Mark II.

Looking at the various pictures, it does look like the ergonomics have changed for the worse.

The front wheel is gone (I don't see it in the back).
The top wheels used for exposure compensation is gone.

I am guessing that both will be replaced with touch screen controls.

There is a strange little button on the back, with what looks like a blue icon of a smartphone. I don't know what that is for.

On the Best buy site (external link), there are two top view pictures, identical except for a bulge. That is puzzling. It looks like there may be an interchangeable grip for a high capacity battery. Interchangeable (rather than attachable) because a top surface is also different.

I am hoping this is where the dials went...

Lens Features Wide-angle lens with dual control rings and 9-blade aperture

I think that button is either wifi or the NFC button

The rumour was that Canon has produced a new type CCD sensor that doesn,t get hot and has controlled the noise. This is supposed to be better in low light conditions with high ISO and better IQ.

Looking at the pictures, the screen doesn't really swivel out. Its like the PowerShot N where it only goes up or down :(

Best Buy has it listed for $800 =/

I think that it would be nice if Canon simply enabled the additional dynamic range that they disabled when they cut down the 18mp APS-C sensor to create the 14mp G1X sensor. That still won't give it Samsung/Fujifilm/Olympus/Sony/Panasonic DR but the difference wouldn't be anywhere near as big as now.

That EVF looks like a detachable job - which means mega money ...............

I'm guessing $250-$300. Its never cheap with Canon =/

Yea, that is why I sold mine, loved the image quality but had to carry a bag, so I always ended up leaving it home.
