Damn, I knew they were going to release an ETTL version but I figured it would still be several months off (granted no release date noted). Can't want to see the price tag. Hopfully it will be fairly reasonably priced like the V850 is.

No mention of an FT 16 interface - not needed, presumably.

I wonder if it will turn out to be Odin friendly?

I would bet a wooden nickel that the body is the same model as the V-850; Master & Slave Flash
As master flash to trigger Canon speedlites 600EX-RT, 580EX II, etc in TTL or M mode
As slave flash to receive wireless commanders of Canon cameras e.g. 7D, 60D, 600D, etc and Canon speedlite signals

Guessing you would be correct on the FT-16

Going to be following the testing and development on this unit closely; hopefully Edward will be ahead of the curve as per usual and get the Cheetah brand on it.

They mentioned 600RT, but didn't say if the control for that was was via built in radio trigger or preflash only.... No mention of any built in radio trigger/receiver...

I hope it still will work with the FT-16 and the non-ETTL version. I am buying myself the non-ETTL with FT-16 shortly. Would be really bad if I couldn't use this out the box.

Nice. I'm thinking $300 to $350.

It has to be optical TTL triggering if its going to work with older ETTL speedlites.
The 600EX-RT will play in that game so they included it.

Its a 580EXII with built in Lithium Ion battery. Not very interesting to those of us using 600EX-RTs.

I certainly hope not. That's a little too close to the 600 EX-RT ($480). I was thinking more like under $250. The non TTL version from Neewer is $99.95 on Amazon.

I agree David on the menu it shows CH 1 2 3 4. Why does everyone keep reinventing the wheel? It will be interesting to see how this products ties in with the other Godox products or even if it will. It seems to me it would make more sense to develop a TTL shoe flash with a built in radio transmitter system that worked with their current products rather than trying to bring out another XYZ flash that works with Canons outdated Optical Wireless system. How many more of these products do we need? Now if it could function simultaneously both as a Master in Canons Optical system while functioning as a transmitter for the other Godox flashes then maybe it will offer some thing a little more unique for consumers. The fact still remains that Canons Wireless RT system is sitting wide open and just begging for some third party company to come along with some unique products to increase the functionality of that system but it seems that no one other than Yongnuo is interested.

Awesome preliminary write up - http://flashhavoc.com …-v860-ttl-flash-released/ (external link)

Got an email from Edward too in response to a couple of questions that I had and he basically said they are "not quite ready for the Cheetah branding" Once they do receive his blessing I will be replacing all my speedlights :D

.. and it does have the FT 16 interface afterall!
Quite a package.

I'm still curious re Odin Rx compatibility as that would lend Odins an extra string. Same thing for 622C owners, I guess.

If Godox wants to take a leadership position they should, in my view, build a 600EX-RT compatible V580 ETTL speedlite that also has a Cells IIc trigger capability to support the 180/360 lights in H mode.

It seems to me the main market demographic for this lighting system is event/wedding photographers. We want/need ETTL capabilities. Personally, the 600EX-RT Gr mode is the best solution currently available. Yongnou has been smart enough to recognize that requirement.

Adding Lithium-Ion and bare tube would make it perfect.
