I wonder if HSS is doable with the 622c.

If you mean H mode, yes.
Is you mean Canon HSS then only with an ETTL capable speedlite. Presumably the V860 will be compatible. However, there are obviously levels of compatibility so some testing will be required.

Been test this for 3 weeks now,Still work with the engineer for some improvement. Will get the final production sample around March 10.
If pass our standard,we'll put Cheetah name on it for US.
Hopefully by the end of March....Stay tune..........

Yet another example of why a relatively small vendor like Edward surpasses the 'tag-along' upstarts like .....no, it's odious to name names but shall we simply say A******, B** & C****** (fill in the missing letters yourselves ;))
There are 'own brands' like Cheetah who drive the market along by setting standards and working with manufacturers to improve products. Then there are the others, the "Big Box Vendors" (often charging more for the same product), who simply swing on the coat-tails of the industry Movers 'n Shakers, without contributing anything other than hot air.

Kudos to Edward
- we all benefit from your input and quality control [even us 'foreigners' :D]

Phil ǁ Kershaw Soho Reflex: 4¼" Ross Xpres, 6½" Aldis, Super XX/ABC Pyro in 24 DDS, HP3/Meritol Metol in RFH, Johnson 'Scales' brand flash powder. Kodak Duo Six-20/Verichrome Pan. Other odd bits over the decades, simply to get the job done - not merely to polish and brag about cos I'm too mean to buy the polish!

And, the large retailers get the benefit of Edward's engineering input to Godox.

BTW, while personally I would like to see Godox follow the Yongnou model and build its TTL capable speedlite with 600EX-RT system capabilities, based on the v850s I have, it will be a very useful addition for someone using YN-622c triggers or similar with 580EXII generation TTL.

I'm very new to Godox products, so confirm or correct my understanding the difference between the V850 and V860 model. From my quick reading on these models, I gather that the primary difference is that TTL is available with the V860 on-camera (but not off-camera) and that it comes with a USB port for firmware upgrades while the V850 doesn't?

TTL, presuming it follows the Canon ETTL-II spec as implemented in the Canon 580EXII, would also be available via optical remote triggering or via the YN-622c ETTL radio triggers.

These are open questions until the unit is available for testing with the YN-622c triggers.

I have Phottix Odin TCU and two receivers, and I'm hoping that V860 can work with these.

I was looking at purchasing one V850 and one V860 (instead of the YN 568's) to work together in HSS mode.

Just to confirm, to run these in HSS you have to buy a separate 60 dollar controller in addition to the 60 dollar remote set?

I like the idea of the li-ion battery but it seems moronic to require two controllers to fire a single (or multiple) flash in HSS.

I agree with this completely.

I'm really hoping that the V860 is compatible with my Yn-622Cs

I was hoping to replace the YN622's. I like them but the fact they wont even get along with each other has me looking for other options to replace them with.

Mine work great, but I'd be willing to replace them with a streamlined system that works with the V860s. Not some crazy two separate trigger mix and match.

The Li-on batteries will make it more than worth the swap.

That's pretty much my thoughts.

I like my 622's and they work fine right now. But I really don't like that they locked in each system and refuse to let them work together if you upgrade at all.
Like the idea that the 560III is radio controlled but ONLY with the cheap 603rf and no HSS. The 622 will not even fire it with radio.
Then they come out with the 600rt and e3-rt, yet the E3 will not fire the 622's and of course the 622 will not fire the 600rt with radio.

I think you described it best with "streamlining". I thought I found that with Godox/Cheetah flashes. Until I read even though they advertise they are HSS, but then in fine print put that is only possible with a separate 60 dollar controller on top of the 60 dollar radio trigger. Now to do any HSS you need to take one controller off the hot shoe, install a different one and keep the other controller handy to make changes...simply moronic.

I do love that battery idea though :)
