Now the power cord from the strobe is quite long (15ft) and I have tried a number of things to keep the cord "out of the way" but nothing seems to work well. When I move the stand the cord ends up dragging and I do not want to trip over it. I have tried twist ties, elastic bands and zip ties. The zip ties are ok but I've like something reusable.

What are somethings others are using? The Velcro cable wraps work well and I have them on all my cords. As others have mentioned it's a good idea to have a few shorter cables on hand. A standard 6' computer AC cord will work just fine. You can get heavier gauge cables and a greater variety of cord lengths through places like Monoprice. I'm just about to order some 25' 14ga AC cords from them.

Ninja1283 Junior Member 24 posts Joined Jul 2011 More info | I'll throw in another vote for the ball bungee cords and using shorter power cables. I had a bunch from old electronics that I just re-purposed, and keep the stock long cords for AC power and shorter 3-6' cords for using the VMLs.

Simple to use - loop around the item to be secured  Pull cord and tighten Cordlok  You can make them yourself, just gotta find a store (typically a camping or fabric store) that sells cordloks and shock cord I used a pair of these to strap my tripod to my Camelbak the other day, and I have a bunch holding all my cables in neat bundles.
