Would someone explain to 1024 long side, when I do that from the export in lightroom my pictures are way more than the allowed 150k and will not allow me to upload.

You need to adjust your JPEG compression (quality) before you save the image, Don. I don't use Lightroom, so can't give you details, but in general a JPEG file saved at highest quality is much more than the 150K limit, as you've found. But reducing the quality will usually get a 1024 pixel wide image down below the limit without any loss of quality when viewed on a screen. Bear in mind that the screens we use are usually 100 pixels/inch or less.
Here's a 1024 X 768 image that's 146K:
