Canon specifically stated that the xxD line was splitting. The 7D went high-end, and the 60D branched off the other way a bit (going smaller, polycarbonate build, etc).

The 7D is not the 50D replacement. It is quite obvious, given its AF points, performance, burst speeds, fps, etc. Said better, the 50D was the last of its kind, and 2 deviations occurred after it.

Not sure why this would even be brought up now? It is going on 5 years at this point, and there are 2 new generations of xxD bodies now. ???

mainly it came up now thinking about the 7DII... but then this thread is about the new flagship protege: the T5 ;)
