When printing there are 2 main parameters I need to specify : the printing profil and the type of paper.

I was wondering how these parameters are translated while printing. I mean what are the changes these parameters induce ?
Of course I think one of the changes is the quantity of ink for each color (CMYB) that is used to restitute a given color. And I guess that the other change is the time the printer waits between each ink drop because I have noticed that when I select "other paper" type then the printer is very slow.
So does the paper type determine only the printing speed or does it have an impact also on the ink quantity ? If it serves only to determine the speed then using "other paper" should work with all kind of paper since it seems to be the slower.

Another question : if I use easy-photo print to print, then I can only choose the paper type and have no possibility to choose a printing profil. So I guess that easy-photo print uses a generic profil that is present in the driver printer itself. Am I right ?

I have an MG5350 and what is strange is that when I use the embeded generic printer driver to print without indicating any profil, I obtain better results than when I use the provided canon profil (SG profil for PP-201 paper)

I think the quantity of ink and maybe also the size of the drop are changed according to OEM paper type because depending on whether they are glossy or matte and/or polymer coated or not the absorption rate and amount of drop spreading differs.
