that's one thing I was trying to do but I'm stuck. My PC has the software and it connects to my 7D but not the 6D, so if you or anyone can shed a light on this, please do... thanks

Download the latest version of EOS Utility.

Sometimes I encounter this images too, not on camera but after it was transferred to my pc... Im not sure if our places have the same procedure in returning defective items but I suggest you send it back to canon immediately for a replacement and not for a repair. In our country, we have to return it within seven days after purchase for replacement, beyond that, it will only be repaired... Just a share of thought, I do not directly connect cameras into my computer to prevent it from absorbing electric grounds from the the pc... well not unless if you are pretty sure of you unit...

I bought it from amazon from a third party seller, but fulfilled by amazon so i can return it but I need to pay for postage. I'm not sure if they will refund the postage though. Anyway, I am not sure now if I will get another 6D, or just save up and get the 5D3 instead. But the high ISO images are really great (if the camera works).

You realize this fault has nothing to do with whether it's a 6D, 5DIII or any other camera right? It's no more likely that you'll get this than you would with any other camera, in fact, this is the first I've ever seen this issue with a 6D.

Send it back, get another one, enjoy.

It looks like it is the camera, I just tried a 3rd SD card which I have used on my point and shoot... it's going back to the "rain forest"

I think I will just save more and go for the 5D MKIII

wow love that logic. the first 6D you get you have a problem so hence it's a problem with all 6D's so I will save the money and get a 5Dmk3.

sure it's the camera at fault here, exchange it for another 6D. no need to panic. Any product can be faulty from any manufacturer. Just deal with it.

put it back in the box and take it back to the shop and get a new one.

I have tried 6d here (from a friend) and I found it a great FF camera for its cost so dont be disappointed with it, but if you decide not to have it, 5d3 is a very good choice, that's if you have the patience to wait for it. ;-)a

Did you format the cards IN CAMERA?

makes no difference and will not produce images in camera like that.

Staszek wrote in post #16685160 (external link)
Looks like a memory card issue. Try another card, format it in camera, and see what happens.

he already did

the sensor or logic board is bad, send it back

Don't give up on the 6D because 1 camera in 300,000 has a manufacturing defect. The first 60D I bought didn't work right. I took it back to Best Buy for a refund, then bought a refurbished 60D from Canon.com. It is over 20,000 shots without a hitch, and remember it was defective at one time. If the 6D was right for you when you opened the box, it was still right for you 10 minutes later when this one didn't work right. Exchange it. Enjoy the new one.

Interesting where did that stat come from? 1 in 300K?

As Vic Reeves once said, 88.2% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Do you have the wifi turned on, on the 6D? If so, turn it off and try connecting the 6D, with a usb cable, again and see if the EOS Utility will now connect to the camera. That one left me scratching my head for a while.

I use the same SD cards as you in all of my digital cameras, and I've never had a problem with any of them. I don't suspect the SD cards.

pretty sure if fulfilled by amazon, you'll get paid return postage.

This is a fools errand at this point. Get a replacement.
