Omega Planet Ocean with some background. I thought the orange bezel and the copper bullet jackets would work well together. I don't have any lights so this was done in the kitchen (two ceiling-mounted incandecent light sources, one on either side of the table). The first shot I used a flash, bounced up into the ceiling with a sheet of white paper between the flash and the watch to prevent glare.

Lens was 24-105/4L.

I agree the second one seems much more striking.
Nice watch too, i've also got a seamaster (2551.80.00)

Wow, very useful and interesting comments ... I thought the first one looked better, or at least had better composition. Can you give me some specifics about what doesn't work for you? I know the DOF was probably too narrow so the cartridges & part of the cloth in the foreground are too soft. Are the highlights too blown? Any other specific criticisms? I might redo the photo if it's salvageable. :)

For the second shot, do you think the DOF was too wide (gun could be blurrier) or too shallow (would it look better if the whole gun was in focus)? The second hand is obviously blurred because of the 15 second exposure, is that distracting?

I felt like there was too little emphasis on the watch itself in the second picture. I posted them in opposite order that I captured them, and rearranged things (as well as got closer) to put more attention on the watch.

I really do appreciate all the comments, please keep them coming. :)

Webmonkeyuk, yes this same watch is available with an orange leather strap. I'm a bracelet guy myself (have all steel bracelets on my SMP, Breitling B1, and Breitling Colt).

Stay safe ...

Nice shots Todd, luckily you managed to get the Sig brnading in the second shot! lol

I really like the shots personally and have been a fan of shots where the second hand is slightly blurred, I like that effect.

In regards to the fingerprint you might be able to blur or smudge that out as the print only ocurrs over the black background of the watchface.. haven't tried it but it's just a thought. Overall, very nice :)

I agree with the others that the 2nd shot is prefered, but their both cool. I'd increase the light and the shutter speed to freeze the 2nd hand.

You did a really nice job....I think you picked some nice "props" to go along with the watch...

Here's a few shots of my own:
