I haven't used the Sigma but I have used the Tamron.

The Tamron is very sharp, as light and compact as you can get for a stabilized 70-200 2.8 lens, and has really great bokeh.

I own the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 OS HSM. It is a bit soft wide open at 200mm.I like it, though, and have no intentions of upgrading. With the formalities out of the way, I think Talley's review says a lot of good things about the Tamron.

EDIT: Here is a shot of my Sigma being soft wide open at 200mm. Horrible, I know.

The Tamron may be the best very value in lenses. Focus as fast at the Canon M2 and maybe a bit quieter, sharp as anything on the market. Best warranty you will find. The Sigma is very good but the Tamron is as good as they come. Even versus the Canon the Tamron is excellent...

another Vote for the Tamron, just got my copy yesterday, can't wait to put it to use this weekend. I have been really impressed with my 'test' shot so far. Go for it you won't regret it.

The Tamron has worked very well for me. I find I'm using it more and more for studio shoots now too - it produces beautiful results under location low light and studio high power strobe scenarios. It's a money maker.
Your actual mileage may vary.....

Got my Tamron now for a couple of weeks and am very content. Decided for the Tamron vs the Sigma after reading a number of reviews (including the one on POTN as mentioned above).

It does.

I'm glad that my review has helped for others. Makes my effort seem worth it. The Tamron is an amazing value.

I'm surprised you haven't been approaced by Tamron yet, as you seem to be responsible for many Tamron 70-200 and 24-70 purchases (mine included lol)

Tamron needs a good 35/85 prime and I would go all tamron lol

Their macro is pretty good. They just need some 1.4 glass

Tamron shies away from primes unless they are macros. I wonder why that is?
Seems like if they made a good 50 1.8 VC for $250 (before rebates:)) it would fly off the shelves. Canon is going to try to Pulp Fiction us with their rumored 50 1.8 IS
