is it advisable to transport a 5D3 with a 70-200L F2.8 Mk II attached?

Normally I carry the lens separately.

But I wondered does it put a strain on the lens attachment joint/camera flange / or lens flange transporting them attached.

The camera and lens lie flat [lengthwise] in a Canon Professional Gadget Bag 1EG

I think you should be fine. My 70D with the 70-200 2.8 ii attached bounces around like a beast in my F250 4x4, in a bag that doesn't have much padding (Lowepro Classified 160 AW). The ride is so rough in my truck that coffee cups can actually be bounced out of the cup holders if I hit a pothole. A speed bump taken too fast is almost enough to knock one's teeth out. The camera and lens (in the bag) have even bounced off of the front seat onto the floor (which doesn't have carpet, the floors in my truck are rubber).

I'm not worried about mine. I certainly wouldn't worry about yours.

(Everyone who reads this has just made a mental note not to purchase used gear from me . . . ever)

You should pack it with styrofoam peanuts and wrap it with bubble wrap.

Just to be safe.

It will see more stress hanging off of your shoulder on a hike than riding in the front of your car in a bag.

nothing I'd every worry about, I always have one or the other lens attached to my cameras. Nothing ever happened.

cameras aren't faberge eggs, they can withstand the tortures of being comfortably tucked in soft a memory foam padded bag while riding smoothly in a mercedes

No, you shouldn't loan out your equipment (whether something was lost in translation or not). In my experience, the whole concept of "you pay for what you break" has disappeared from the world. If someone can't afford to buy it, they can't afford to borrow it.
