Normally I carry the lens separately.
But I wondered does it put a strain on the lens attachment joint/camera flange / or lens flange transporting them attached.
The camera and lens lie flat [lengthwise] in a Canon Professional Gadget Bag 1EG

The base is fairly firm and has an additional 50mm memory foam base so it sort of sinks into that and is held firmly.
Question is will the rocking and bouncing sitting on the front seat of a Mercedes for 200 miles each way be detrimental to either.
I would rather err heavily on the side of caution as I do have a hard case for the lens; but I am just desperately trying to cut down on bags.
Any views
