I do believe this is an RS-3. (Further inspection reveals this to be an ALCO RS-1b)

Yes....and I have 0 photos to show for it...it was a rainy, cold day and I forgot to bring a flash with me. Decided it was better to see the stuff and some day be prepared to take pictures.

Very nice UP shots. I'm guessing you don't see a lot of those in New York.

I was driving past the big UP yard in Colton today, and saw a beautiful, brand-new GE demonstrator on the point of a westbound lashup. It was gorgeous, and shinier than my car. Unfortunately, I was on the freeway in heavy traffic heading the opposite direction, and to get off the freeway and backtrack to where I might get a shot, I would have probably added an hour to my trip home. It was tempting, though.

A true Railfan would have backtracked

Actually that was taken in Selkirk, NY's yard and they UPs come through there daily. It is a main yard on the east coast so I think it is a hub for the UPs. I am not a true major Railfan... got taken out for a day by someone that is. I think these are very cool looking engines though, so I took a lot of pictures of them. I love trains and like to shoot them, but don't know a lot about them.

QUOTED IMAGE

Taken on one of my trips between Adelaide and Roxby Downs

I recognised that straight away. That'd be where the road does a big dogleg and straightens heading for the Port isnt it?

This is one of my favourites of this year, a British class 47 sulzer engined loco on a chartered train against the early morning April sky. Photgraphed near Long Eaton, UK.

My site has many other uk trains if you have time to take a look.

Appologies for posting a film shot, but I thought this was an unusual sight. (Note the name on the cars.) ;)

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

Cool photo Bruce, even if it is film ;). That train isn't unusual though. Ringling Bros has two unit trains (red and blue) that transport all their animals, equipment and crews across the country to wherever the show is located for that week.
