Today when I was out driving with my wifey we saw a train that had 5-6 flat cars (sorry do not know the official name of the car) on a train that was carrying many brand new John Deere farm tractors! I have seen this before, but not very often. Since I of course do not see every train going thru town I really have no idea how often this happens. Anyway I did not have my 60D with me, but I still wanted to try and get a show with my smart phone. At first I was able to drive faster than the train, but then I started hitting RED lights... 3 or 4 in a row..... GRRRRRR

But then the train was picking up speed and I could not get ahead of the train, so I had to say good bye to the very nice looking John Deere tractors.

I was so sad because I wanted to post them here

As far as I know they will rail them from manufacturing plant to distribution areas to save on freight. Kind of like how they do auto in auto haulers. They will rail them to within a few hundred miles and then truck them from that point to the dealers.

Train was average length, around 5,000 feet probably, but it did contain a lot of (steel)coil cars, which if loaded are quite heavy.

More depth of field......that would be a higher number.... So the focal plane is deeper. On the Z axis. ;-)a

or take a few shots through the entire field of view and stack em together to get the entire image in focus! i.e. take a photo with the closest parts in focus then adjust for a little further back, and do this the whole length of the car.
