I had a heckuva time trying to keep water off the lens for this one, even from inside my truck. We are finally getting some good rain here.

All of the engines I've seen on this post are a LOT cleaner than the steamers I rode on when I was a kid (back in the 40's!). One of the things I always noticed when they pulled into the station, was all the grease and oil covering almost every square inch of the running gear. Diesel engines just can't compare with the character of the old steamers. Beautiful posts - all of them.

Was in Memphis earlier this week and had a chance to visit the "skybox" as the locals call it at the BNSF IMF (Intermodal Facility). First time out using my new to me 70-200 2.8 II - wow.....everything said about that lens is true....SO SHARP!

Link to the google earth (I hope) of where I was (left top of the facility at the asphalt turn about by the gas station. This place was insane busy and fascinating to watch.

Thanks! That's one of my more favorite spots when I have time to get out there. Same exact spot (never got out of my truck!) with different camera. Swapped from the 1D4 with the 100-400 to the 5D3 with the 24-105.
