As an aside, I got to visit and use two brand new transportation hubs in NYC last week. The new hub that replaced the one destroyed on 9/11 which is amazing, and the new subway station at 34th Street, Hudson Yards, the 7 train extension. This one is brand spanking new and pretty cool.

All Amtrak trains use the eastbound platform at New Rochelle. The interlocking west of the station that trains used to access the Hell Gate Line to Penn Station was changed in 2008 to permit higher speeds for Amtrak trains. The switches from the old westbound tracks (numbers one and three) were taken out and the switches for the eastbound tracks upgraded.
