I should stick around you a little closer, John. I'm always learning something new. I don't recall ever hearing of this plane. I also was unaware that Budd ever produced an airplane.

I first saw this airplane at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson back in 2007 and I've known about the Budd involvement in the Zephyr for a couple of years but I didn't make the connection until I saw an article in a recent issue of Trains magazine...

My first train shot with the 20D, first of probably thousands. It was too cold to properly frame the old GE.

This is the best I have, sorry. Its a Soo Line Engine 1003 in Edgerton with Santa on Dec 5, 2008.

Great photo. I love steam engines.

I posted a similar shot to this one a few weeks ago in a different thread. I like the look of the scene with the snow and steam together. Unusual these days. Taken just before Christmas last year with a 1D 111 and a 24-105 L lens. It looks as if the picture has been desaturated but it has not. The locomotive is A4 "Bittern" shot in Norfolk UK.

UNfortunately this is my only train shot. I need to find more.

QUOTED IMAGE

Glad you didn't get killed taking this shot being in the ROW and so close to a moving train.

This is my FIRST train shot with a dSLR. Had no train shots with any digital camera since I started digital picture taking (with a P&S) in 1999.

I scooped up a used XT with a kit 18-55 (non-IS) to keep with me almost all the time (bang around). I had it with me and ready on the way to my Saturday retail job and knew a train is usually parked near by. I shot this (I was able to slow down in my car - no one behind me).

Really a dreary day - but was able to do a little PP and cropping in iPhoto - was pleasantly pleased.

Canon Rebel XT, 18-55 (non-IS) @ 55mm, f5.6, 1/1600

Comments welcome... gonna take more train shots, maybe rent an L when I visit the Union Train Museum in the Spring!

I like this but it looks better with the green stuff at the left cropped off and at 16:9... ;)
