That thing can transfer itself from car to car! Great shot!

Yes it crawls along the gondolas as they empty. I spent about an hour just watching the whole work train creep down the track next to the newly laid out rail.

What is that contraption called? I would like to look on youtube to see a video of it working!

Thank you

Nevada Southern GP30 #844 is decorated with Christmas trees and Santa as it prepares to depart for Railroad Pass. The Eureka and Palisades steam engine can be seen on the right.

It's been quite a while since I got out to capture photos of trains. This is one form last night at the Fullerton train station. BNSF 8213 made a stop to wait for an Amtrak Surfliner to arrive in the station.

A busy Saturday at York with two excursions and three steam locos in use, first to arrive was GWR Castle class No. 5043 "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe".

Seen here in a shaft of winter sunlight at Burton Salmon.

The second excursion was "The York Yuletide Express" which was hauled to York by No. 46100 "Royal Scot" and the return trip was behind No. 60009 "Union of South Africa".

I wish we had steamers in the states.

Thank you for your kind comment, much appreciated.

I think you you do have working steam locos in the States it's just that you have to travel a lot further than we do in the UK to see them.

Have a look at THIS (external link) web site.

Agreed. Diesels dont have near the impact. Probly why people laugh when i say i like to shoot trains.

Both are excellent images, but I especially like the light in this one. Very nice work!

Thanks guys, it would have been criminal not to take advantage of such great winter light.

Merry Christmas to you all.

If I had to choose, it would be #2, love #1 but the pylons in the background knocked it off first place lol, all great shots though.

Merry Christmas to you too.
