This is probably my most dramatic train shot. It's hard to believe that it has almost been 12 years since I captured this shot.
I was in Cajon Pass and noticed a thin column of smoke rising from the area of the run-away truck ramp for the south bound side of I-15. A bit later, the winds picked up, and that little bit of fire quickly grew and raced west. I happened to be in the right place at the right time when a train came up the tracks and came to a stop due to the fire. This photo shows the lead units as the train reverses down the tracks to a safer location. There were helper units with a crew on the back end which allowed for a safe retreat.

Wow, what capture and what a drama indeed. Keep it in a safe place, hopefully you will never be in the same situation again!.

The IC/GTW shot was near Byron, WI on the CN Waukesha Sub.
