My first train picture. Train took me by surprise. I have some other spots picked out for next time.

Thanks hammer418. I was concentrating on getting a shot of a pair of magpies working on their nest in some bushes a short distance from the tracks and all of a sudden there was the train. I didn't have time to get to a different position so ended up with way too much stuff in background. But after train passed I scouted out the spot and can see where I can set up and hopefully get better shots.

An unusual viewpoint and strong composition John. Is it on the NYMR between Beck Hole and Goathland?

Wood-burning steam locomotive pulls a train out of Jyväskylä, Finland. I took this photo with my first camera, Kodak Brownie II in 1951 and digitized the negative recently at 4800dpi with Epson V600 scanner.

Thanks for both things you said!
I didn't intend to make the image that big. I have to scroll to see all of it on my computer. Any recommendation on what I should do to make my future portrait-mode photos fit on the screen?

Are you referring to Zoom to 100%?
Zoom to fit does fit it to the screen, zoom to 100% often roll off the screen.
I don't mind that personally.

Thanks! The way I do it, exporting from Lightroom 6, I don't see any such option. But if you, a Gold member, don't mind, perhaps I don't need to worry about it either. Have a nice day!

When exporting from LR do JPEG and something like 25-50% of original.

Carajás ore train
From the world's biggest open-pit iron mine in the Pará state of Brazil to the sea port of São Luís in the neighboring Maranhão state, every two hours they carry iron ore to be processed overseas. Each train is 330 cars and two miles long. When I took this picture in 2015, a second track was being built so that the mine can double its production.
