May 13, 2020 13:34 | #5976 Amtrak Heartland Flyer coming into Ardmore, OK. Shot from an overpass as it was approaching, and then after it went under. AE-1, Kentmere 100 and developed in Caffenol. Not very good photos, this roll turned out a bit grittier than I'd hoped. Image hosted by forum (1044393) © Terry McDaniel [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Since I was up before sunrise, I thought I'd load it while standing in my closet. Everything was going fine, until I couldn't find my scissors to cut off the back end of the film from the spool. OK thought I, I'll grab my changing bag right behind me, fold it over the reel, then use my flashlight to find the scissors. I turned around, grabbed my changing bag, and as I was folding it over the reel, I got a text message, causing my phone to flash. I lucked out, the light only hit a couple of frames, and even they are usable. So Lesson #434, never load film in a closet if your phone is in your shirt pocket. TerryMc

I could usually eke out 2 extra slides rarely 3 and at the price of developing was well worth the effort. I have not had a slide projector in 15-20 years!!! Charles

unclejohn Goldmember More info | I hope you don't mind unsolicited criticism, but I think the one on top could be a magnificent image. If you'd just crop off a bit on the left and eliminate what's left of the branches . . . I don't know anything. But I know other things.

You mean like this? I need all the help I can get, appreciate your comment. I can see now that I should have taken about three more steps to the left before taking this shot. unclejohn Goldmember More info | Ah Terry, I was commenting on Swiss Tony's photo. The fine print on top of my post shows this. But I too have trouble with it, especially if I'm commenting on an older post. Wish they could show a little thumbnail of the photos we reply to. I don't know anything. But I know other things.

Regarding your photo, I think that too could use some cropping, just on the left as there isn't much interesting to see on that side. Another thing you could try is to reduce the contrast so that the forest wouldn't look so black. And one more thing. When I digitize from film, whether negative or slide, I get a better result when I digitize at a higher resolution than I think I should need to. Makes the gradations smoother. I'm starting to miss shooting analogue (occasionally). My batting average was poorer than with digital, but it was fun. I bought black and white film in bulk rolls and developed it myself. I tried that with color too but only once, the result was crappy. If I could find my old Leica from somewhere in the garage I could ask the techie if he could fix it. Its shutter gave out decades ago and Leica service told me it would cost more to fix it than the camera was worth. unclejohn, Image hosted by forum (1044461) © Inspeqtor [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW.
