With Halloween almost upon us I thought this shot might be suitable, BR Class 4 leaving Whitby which of course is where Bram Stoker got his inspiration for DRACULA (external link) .
The abbey can be seen on the hill to the right.

7802 Bradley Manor - a GWR Manor class 4-6-0 mixed traffic locomotive, built 1938. Your photographer was perched very precariously hanging onto the outside edge of a bridge above a twenty foot drop, the things I do for my art.

It seems to me there are more steam engine photos taken in the UK then there are in the USA.

Are there more restored steam engines in the UK then there are here in America?

Under normal circumstances (ie non virus) we get quite a lot of mainline steam operations and there are a lot of heritage railway lines running steam. Within 50 miles of my house I've got Gloucester Warwickshire Steam Railway, Severn Valley Railway and Dean Forest Railway all running steam engines.

Interesting links
Good to see steam embraced the way it is.
It's a struggle here to convince those who can make a difference steam has a life and is a draw card for tourists.

I was rather amused in a shot of the Forest of Dean engine and all the stumps. Trees cut down.
I wondered if they was spoiling the view?

At the Conway Scenic Railway in NH, they have 2 steamers, I believe.
The 7470, the engine I have posted here before, only does special events, and at this time is undergoing some work on her boiler. I'm hoping that they have her repaired shortly, allowing for more photo opportunities.

I've posted this before, just adding the pic as a reference. I liked the angle.
