^^ Yeah, I was a little closer than normal on my shot above. It was just such a good vantage point.....

Discovered RailPictures.net a week or so ago and submitted a couple of pictures that didn't make it on the site. Got my first acceptance tonight with this shot:

The D&S is a narrow gauge railroad. The locomotives tend to be very low profile.

Madweasel, does The Flying Scotsman still run? I saw it as a kid, here in the USA back in '69. I was reading a book about that trip earlier tonight.

It's at the absolute end of the track in Silverton. Not a touch-up.

Oh, 30 seconds maybe? I was out spotting locations for future sunny day shoots and it took a while to figure out how to get to this spot. I rolled up to it, got out of the car and was surveying the scene when I heard a rumble. Dove back in the car for the camera and got it turned on and by then the nose of the first locomotive was in sight. Fired off three or four quick shots. Looking forward to getting back to it.
