I was wondering if it is ok to use the Canon 299T on the 6D. I read elsewhere that voltages need to be right to avoid frying the camera innerds. Your thoughts please.

apersson850 Cream of the Crop More info | I presume you are aware that all flash automation is off, when not using flash units with the EX designation. The earlier EZ aren't E-TTL compatible, and the T series is even older. Anders

More of a issue of concern that if I plugged it in by mistake, I wouldn't cook the camera. I know, I know, I should always be aware of what I am plugging into my camera, but there is always the possibility of a brain fart.

msowsun "approx 8mm" More info | Feb 18, 2014 08:25 | #5 I have a 299T and while it has a TTL mode, it also has the earlier "Auto Thyristor" mode and can function very well in Auto mode on your 6D. Just select "F.NO. SET" mode on the flash, and then match the aperture and ISO to your camera settings. (I would use manual mode on the camera) Mike Sowsun / SL1 / 80D / EF-S 24mm STM / EF-S 10-18mm STM / EF-S 18-55mm STM / EF-S 15-85mm USM / EF-S 55-250mm STM / 5D3 / Samyang 14mm 2.8 / EF 40mm 2.8 STM / EF 50mm 1.4 USM / EF 100mm 2.0 USM / EF 100mm 2.8 USM Macro / EF 24-105mm IS / EF 70-200mm 2.8L IS Mk II / EF 100-400 II / EF 1.4x II

It works pretty well in Auto thyristor mode, and as far as I know, it's the only thyristor flash with full range available f-stops from f2 to f22 for all ISO's it can handle. This is important because you can shoot high ISO's with large apertures like f2 etc. You can also change ISO on it to act as flash exposure compensation.
