Hi guys, I am looking forward to buy a 24-70 f/2.8 L USM (Mk1)

I got some Sample shots from the lens, would like to know what do you think about its sharpness. All shots are at 70mm f/2.8 @ISO 800 with an 5D3
Click on the loupe above the image to the right, to open a zoomable version.

For maximum sharpness try ISO 100. Also try to upload quality jpegs. the cropped eyes is only 52KB which is tiny, lots of compression.

I cannot evaluate it until I see this.

Looks good as far as I can tell. (you can pretty much count the eyelashes...) Looks like you can get even more out of it with some careful PP. I don't know that lens very well, so I don't know if it's above average or not.

Isn't that really all that matters?

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

Well, these are the pictures the owner of the lens sent me, so that is what I have.
The cropped eyes are in fact a 100% crop of the image, did not want to include the whole portrait, as I do not know the model.

Szia Roland,
The samples look OK to me.
How much are these lenses in Hungary, used (in HUF)?

They go for around 240.000 - 260.000 HUF ($1050 - $1150)
Sometimes you find them around 230.000 HUF

This particular one is 250.000 HUF ($1100)

In other words they go used for the prize of a new 24-105.

I see. At least the used market prices in Hungary are pretty reasonable.

Just don't tell them that...
But as a new lens it was 360.000 HUF.

Maybe I should have my mother in law buy lenses for me. She lives in Debrecen. Hmmm...

I was wondering, those who vote average, vote for:
"Average quality lens" os "Average for a 24-70"
