I have the chance to buy a Nikon D3100 with 18-55 lens for $75. Seller says that everything works but it won't take a picture. Is it worth it?

It depends on what wrong with it and how much it would cost to fix. New they can be had for about $400. It could be a cheap fix and you got a good deal or it could be not worth it to fix and you are out $75. Your call.

Feb 17, 2014 19:55 | #7 Seriously, you guys are thinking waaaayyyy too deep about this. You can control the settings, view the screen, zoom the lens. The ONLY thing you can't do is press the shiny button and snap a picture. It really wasn't that hard of a question was it? 6D | 5D4 | 24-105 f4L | Sigma 50 2.8 Macro | 17-40 f4L| 135 f2L | 70-200 f2.8L ii | Sigma 35 1.4 Art | Canon 24-70 ii

Are you planning on fixing it? Or just using it for video...? I don't get it. $75 sounds like it'd be worth the gamble if you're going to try to fix it, the lens has to be worth about that. Given your replies, just go for it, what's the worst that can happen? You spend the money, and you have a toy that looks like a real camera, but does nothing. JeffreyG "my bits and pieces are all hard" More info | Feb 18, 2014 05:14 | #15 This seems like some kind of philosophical question. What do you call a camera that will not take a picture? Me, I call it 'broken' but the OP calls it 'everything works'. My personal stuff:http://www.flickr.com/photos/jngirbach/sets/
