I have been asked to video the biography of a local pastor who is running for a new position in the church. This video has a max time length of 10 min in and will be submitted to a committee for review along with a writing version of his biography. Alittle background about him. Served in US Army rank SGT, Pastor of church, built new church, started several ministry, and he owns and operated three christian based out reach centers. I have two approaches to this.

1. Seat down with him at his church and let him chronically tell the story to present time. When he discusses his out reach center show video clips of the center and people working in it.

2. Let him tell about his career and him becoming a pastor at the church. Then for each outreach center video him at those location. Then video the conclusion at the church.

So tell me how would you approach this? I am open to any idea.

Thanks

I would go with #2. Why is he running for a new church position. I thought they are assigned?

Not all church appoint leaders. Most vote there leaders in to position.

I'd say #1... Conduct the interview in one location and shoot b-roll to fit what he says. Unless you're able to do sort of a 'walk-and-talk' style interview with him at each location on wireless mics.

Bensley I think that's the approach I will take. This is a ten minute production and I will need plenty of b roll.

Go along with what is suggested above but if you can throw in some talking heads telling of their experiences it stops the one voice monotony and seems more genuine than the guy bigging himself up.
