The Adobe Photographer's Bundle which includes Photoshop and Lightroom for $9.99 per month is once again open to anyone, regardless of previous Photoshop version ownership until 3/31/14. The $9.99 per month is a continuous offer but the lack of previous Photoshop ownership seems to come and go on a limited time basis.

I am using Lightroom 5 and wanted to add to it. Looked at Ps CS6 but it's about $650. I figured that for $120 I could try the latest version of Photoshop for a year and probably get Lr 6 within that year and look at it too. I also figured it might take me six months to learn PS CC well enough to make a smart decision. By the end of a year I thought I would know what I was using from Ps CC and decide if PSE (ver.13 by that time) gave me enough to drop the CC rental and buy or pass on the Lr 6 upgrade.

Got about 10 months left to decide.

i am sure adobe will survive.

thanks for the post OP. if you are reading this thread and are a student, adobe is currently giving adobe creative cloud for $199 for the year. basically, you pay for 10 months, but get 12 months of every piece of software adobe - plus online storage and a bunch of other stuff. you cannot beat the price and the updates sure beat waiting for the next version to come out on those dvd things.

If you use both photoshop and lightroom, this new model is definitely more affordable if you plan on keeping up with new releases.

My only fear is that this new model will drive down the NEED for the adobe team to create new and marketable revisions once they have everyone on a subscription service.

I am willing to bet that it will seriously cut down on piracy though. Which is good for adobe.

Yeah, but bad for its customers. Not that they care.

The CC version was cracked within a few days. I would think that a subscription model would increase the desire to pirate as the money is bleeding out every month unlike a purchased copy where you have a single outlay but then noting until you upgrade.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Well, what about Netflix Vs Blockbuster? Pay per rental vs Monthly Subscription.

We say bad for the customer, but in the end - what's good for the goose is good for the gander. So if it works for adobe, good for us.

I don't know what's up with the adobe hate... I think CS6 and Lightroom 5 are awesome. I'd never move to any of the current alternatives.

PS, why is it bad for the customer? Maybe bad for some customers. But definitely not "The" customer. It's Great for "The" customers who can't afford CS6 outright. I have a feeling it will create a much larger and less exclusive photoshop user base.

Buying into this model is no different from paying a dealer for a little heroin. Once you're on board you're theirs forever, but at-least for heroin there's rehab.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

It's not 'Adobe hate', it's dislike of their sketchy, all-for-us, 'we'll own (and pwn) them' business model.
