Almost looks better upside-down. The pose is a little strange to me. I think you've got a lot of pieces right with the lighting. That looks fine to me.

Though the angle may work for another subject, here it did not.
Why should shoulder run the show when there are better things?
On top of that (Or to the right of that) Why to show beautiful eyes in a position of squint that overall remind me of those illusion images you turn a nice subject and see a long beard old man or likewise next!
Compose differently.
Try to change the perspective preferably by longer distance or may be wider lens.
In short you started, now find your right angle.

Sorry, does not do the model justice.... Awkward pose and too shallow DOF - the lighting is Ok but that is the only positive I can give it.

i agree with the others, upside down poses are hard to do. you really need to make the eyes prominent so that the viewer can connect with the subject, there is no connection made here.

Thanks everyone for your input. I am not shocked by the criticism as I was not sure about this shot myself and that's why I posted it. And I am glad I did. Personally I did not think that the pose was that bad but it is clearly disturbing for most and it only proves how we differ in our perception. And samsen, I absolutely love the illusion images remark :)

Thanks Mag-1981 for getting the critiques in right way. I always have after effect of regret, when leaving my opinion on their works because I know how wrong things can go when emotion is involved. In response to your mature reaction, let me share with you another image in your line of creation that I saw long back but had that positive impact on me to the extend that Déjà vu of your image made me to go back and find it so let me share that with you and see if you can make the difference between the two images, visually, in terms of success. As Image is not mine, I am going to leave the

only here. I guess Mike_311 well stated the point to consider and you do see that point in mylink (external link).

you can see how i had to really prop her up to get her head to hang way back. i tried this same pose with another model and it just didn't work.

Indeed you're not but, if you are able to submit samples, you may ask a moderator if you can. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until you have another 289 posts.

I think the problem with the upside down pose in general is that it serves as a distraction from the point of the picture rather than an enhancement. Upon first viewing, your brain is trying to work out the orientation of the model and/or the camera ... usually this isn't what the photograph was intended to elicit.

ah, the sofa's vanished ... one mystery less then !

Well, the model did this pose and I captured it so yes, people do these things and sometimes it happens that there are other people around them to capture it, even if they're upside down. Might be unpleasant but it still happens. But since so many of you find it disturbing, then have a look at it with the eyes in the right place. any better?...:

Don't worry - I go through life with egg on my face :)

I actually like the upside down version and, in any case, us Brits need to stick together :)
