I'm asking this for an elderly friend who isn't on line. He has a 1d MK3 and regardless of what he does the max number of shots the viewfinder says are available are 15 regardless of the camera being set for Jpeg or RAW. The camera works perfectly otherwise. Can anyone make any suggestions whats the reason?
He suspects he may be responsible by in getting to know the cam having made an unintentional change.

Has he limited the burst length by the custom function for that? That's possible to do on the 1D Mark III. However I don't know if it will show the setting in the viewfinder, but if I set the 1DX to a max burst length of 15, then it immediately shows 15 in the viewfinder, instead of 62, which was there the moment before I limited the burst length. Removing the limit and I see 62 again.

Just phoned him and his answer is "not deliberately anyway" I told him to do the "clear camera settings" but he says he did that and it makes no difference

He needs to clear all custom functions as well.

Is there no user's manual with his camera? Took me 30 seconds to see that it's custom function III.17 he should check.

One extra thing to note is that you'll get a reduced burst rate if using a higher ISO. Says it in the manual.

I don't know if he has a manual, but I'm going along shortly and will pass the info on. Thanks all

Why? It has no influence whatsoever on neither burst length nor rate.

It does on mine. Also, it slows down at higher ISOs, as mentioned above.

What size card does he have in the camera? Could he have put a small card in by mistake? Would this cause the problem?

Just to say with my own handbook stuck in my caravan until the campsite reopens after the winter shutdown with reference to the above posts I got the old boy sorted out tonight and he says a a massive thanks!

good result - strongly recommend the first setting changed after clearing all camera settings is to set "shoot w/o card" to OFF...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Higher ISO, yes. But I've never noticed any difference due to highlight tone priority. Which camera do you have?

A Canon T70. Why would I comment about a different camera than the OP is asking about??
