2 and 4 are pretty nice, but in #1 the lens is just full of sun and the boy is totally washed out, and in #3 the shot is badly lacking contrast or just adequate lighting, plus his hands are cut off.

It is as if two people of drastically different skill levels took these pictures. The ones of the girl are well composed, interesting, and show the girls character, and the boy shots are snapshots at best and give me no sense about the boy.

I personally don't care for the haze in the first picture. The second picture is cute but I know some people wouldn't like the fact that over half of it's blown-out. The third one is also cute, it could be a little bit sharper and you want to try not to cut off body parts like his fingers if at all possible. As a mother of two, I know that's often times easier said than done. And finally, for me at least, I like the fourth shot the best. I like the backlighting for this picture, and the expression on her face. Again, some people might complain about her gumby arm action there but I feel nothing but jealousy for those that are freaky flexible. I might crop a little bit more off of the top and left-hand side but not enough to make her centered. I'd also clone out the distracting person walking in the background and maybe add a little more contrast and sharpening to all of these. I'm not a portrait photographer so you can take my critique for what it's worth. ;-)a

FYI: "Fitness Freak" is also known as "Amber" outside of POTN.

Thanks for the input. I of course didnt put as much thought into these as i would with a session, i was pretty much just sitting on the ground with my 80-200 spinning around yelling at them just to try an get them to stop long enough to snap...lol but I could see where the statements are applicable for these.
