Q about the 50D getting warm in use

I bought a well-used 50D from Henry's Canada several years ago, it works quite well, and had, I believe, a new shutter installed at time of purchase as EOS count showed only a few shots.

I've just noticed that it gets warm (not hot, but then I don't use it for more than an hour or so at a time). Is this normal? I have to admit I never noticed this before, but I now do a lot of macro focus stack shots and so I'm using the LCD with mirror lockup to focus manually, and my batteries are also quite old. They won't hold a charge for more than 25 or 30 shots at a time. Would this contribute to the heat buildup?

I would get new batteries regardless if that is all the life they have left.

Yes the cameras get warm when LiveView is engaged. That model has a cathode backlit LCD (warmer than edge lit LEDs on the newer displays) and when the sensor and processor are fully engaged doing image capture and processing for liveview the camera gets noticeably warm.

Thanks Keyan, good to know I don't need a replacement just yet. I didn't want to invest in new batteries until I was pretty sure the cam was ok.
