Went with Kevan, both of us clad in spikes to eliminate falls on icy roads and paths. Walked quite a distance and finally spotted 3 Bald Eagles in one tree. Unfortunately, they didn't cooperate. At least 50 yards away, branches between us, gray, overcast sky with snow falling. Each took off in succession, even more trees between them and us.

So we walked back dejectedly, happy having at least seen them.

Went to another corner of the park and there in a tree was a mature and immature eagle. I got this shot: ISO 1600, 1/1250th, f7.1, 1Dx with 70-200 and 2x tc iii.

Very nicely done. And your dejection turned to Glee! I have to get across the river to see these. :)

well come on down. I'd be glad to meet up with you. I'm heading to Morristown NJ tomorrow for work, not play, unfortunately.

Yes that sounds like a good idea. Maybe sometime next week, I'll PM you when I can be available and if you have the time it would be great to meet. :)

Tell'm the truth, MDJAK. We broke into the park's nature center, I "borrowed" their taxidermied bird, and tossed the thing up into the air a half-dozen times while you tried to photograph it.

Nice shot!

My best shots weren't up to MDJAK's. I'm still figuring out my Tamron 150-600mm. It's a weak excuse, but it's all I've got.

These images were heavily cropped:
