Ok, it's been a while since I've looked at point and shoots. My friend is looking for a new camera. She is not camera literate so she is not going to like a dslr. Her price range is under z$200. She wants something that is going to be quick to take photos. She has a small dog that she loves to death and would like to get photos of him romping around in the snow.

So used would be fine, she'll want it to take a photo as soon as she hits the shutter button.

Personally, if i can eventually show her how to set shutter speed, aperture, ISO, etc then i'd like the camera to have those settings as well as a P mode. :(

She's looking at a Nikon coolpix L820. I know nothing about those cameras. Obviously I would like to steer her towards Canon.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.

I own a L820 and love it. I went from a Rebel DSLR to an SX40HS to an SX280HS to the Nikon. So far I'm really liking the Nikon better than the Canon's, except for the Rebel, which you can't compare to any P&S.

I also have an ELPH 520 HS which is my pocket camera, does a pretty good job.

Hope this helps.

Is that L820 pretty quick with the shutter release? Heck, maybe I'll get one too if they are that good. I have a Canon SD1200IS and it's ok in manual mode but it's not great.

I'm not a professional, but I'm pleased with shutter speed. The "pet" setting is pretty neat. I also like the fact that it operates on AA's, so no charger needed. I'm using the Ultimate Lithium's and get pretty good life out of them.
