Firstly I don't know if I'm in right section of the forum, but don't see a newbie section. I have had my Canon Eos 600d for a while now but only started experimenting with all the different modes including manual mode. I recently purchased a Canon EF 70-300 IS USM zoom lens, been using it in all different modes including scene intelligent auto mode but mainly sticking to manual mode where I can change shutter speed,ISO and aperture. I was hooting in low light [cloudy day] and took photos using zoom Len without zooming and also shots of zooming in using various shutter speeds and ISO settings and every time the camera was taking approx 7-10seconds to fire is this normal?, I even changed the focus on lens to manual but camera still took 7-10 to take photo. I'm no expert like it said I've just started using these modes and my new lens can anyone tell me if and where I might be going wrong or is this normal procedure for zoom lenses in low light and will it be quicker on a very sunny day,as my 18-55 kit lens fires immediately but I understand it has much shorter focal length, I'm just wondering if zoom lens is faulty in anyway as I've just recently bought it from Ebay any help is much appreciated.
Kind Regards
George
