Been awhile since I've played with PS but trying to get back into it. Let me know what you think on all aspects. Thanks

I like the direction you took on the edit but I think you've got a bit too much light on the pistol.

I would also suggest replacing those two rounds with a couple of personal defense rounds. If nothing else it would get rid of that hot spot.

I would also suggest correcting the color cast. The gun should be black.

Yeah the white balance or color cast is way too yellow. It looks like you've been a bit heavy handed with the burn in vignette in the first one. Try flagging the light so it only falls where you want, and perhaps from a lower angle so there is less reflection.

In the edit you made the shadows more pronounced instead of lighter which makes that you lost detail - especially near the trigger guard.

What's the point of the rod through the trigger guard?
Generally, I prefer indirect light for metal objects. Look at the knife & Browning threads here.

That's a common theme for shooting guns...... ha ha I made a pun...;)
However, in this case it is the distracting factor because you now have three lines that have intersecting planes, and they don't lead/point to the subject.
I do like the post editing. I do not like the perpendicular line on the table, or the rod.
Good job. Decent composition. Good edit.

You know I gave no thought to the lines on the table or the rod but now I do see what you mean. You think a shorter rod would be better?

The rod wouldn't have been as bad if you excluded that portion of the table that has the perpendicular line.Care to share your edit techniques? I love the feel of the edit...

That's the first thing that I noticed. I like the warm lighting but not on the pistol, has to be black.

Hey thanks. I wanted it to have a rich, warm look to it. Especially with the wood tones.
To be quite honest, I'm still trying to refine my edits. They are still a little inconsistent, but luckily I saved my PSD file and can tell you exactly what I did.

The image started off as a HDR idea, but that went away with the dark shadows. So I had 3 images and merged them together. Created 2 curves adjustment layers and tweeked things a bit. desaturated the image -27, and just a bit of dodge and burn.

Hopefully I would be able to recreate the "feel" if I had to because I believe being consistent is so important and not just getting lucky with an edit.

IMO, no rod would be better along with no glare on the wood 'background'.

As others have said..the white balance is off. I read that you wanted it that way for the "look". However you can keep that "look" with the gun black. I played with it some. You don't have image Editing Ok on so I wont post it. If you would like to see it..just say so and I'll post it.

I added clarify to it and white balance and a sharpen.

and I agree that the rod should go.

Looks pretty darn cool though.
