Canon 430EXII???

So i have a question for you flash experts. Can you fire a 430EX II wirelessly? i have pocket wizards but cant figure out if it can be done...


canon 30d, canon 1d mkIII, 50mm 1.8, 18-55mm, canon 1.4 extender, canon 400mm f2.8 IS, canon 70-200 f2.8 IS II, Canon 16-35mm f2.8,Pocket Wizards,430 ex II, 580 ex II, Canon 430 EX, sigma SA-9, 70-300 5.6, 28-80mm(which I NEVER use)

The answer to your question is yes. Can it be done with the equipment that you have? No one can guess that since there are many models of Pocket Wizards and you do not indicate what you have. The 430ex flashes do not have a sync port so unless you have a PW with a hot shoe you are going to need a sync adapter for your flash foot and the matching sync cord.

Pocket wizards are a brand. Which model do you have? As Dedsen says above, you likely need a hotshoe adapter.

I have the 430 EX and have fired it remotely with 2 Pocket Wizard 3's - works fine - manual only control though.


Canon 5DS-R
Canon 24-70MM II
Canon 180MM f/3.5 Macro
Canon 100-400MM IS II
Canon 500MM f/4 IS II
