5D MK III Troubles anyone ?

I would like to try to explain what this camera is doing so that it might be diagnosed correctly .
The batteries are charged 100% before every shoot. I always shoot with a BG-E11 battery grip (I sent this w/camera for possible cause of trouble) and a GP-E2 receiver. 75% of the time I am using a EF 24-70 mm and the rest of the time I will use a 17-40 mm, 70-200 mm, 100-400 mm.
I will start off the day with no problems at all for the first 50-60 shots or so and then all of a sudden I notice that I will see no picture on the rear screen after the shot. I will try to get the menu button to work and that also will not show a screen. (if it does show a screen, its only for a fraction of a second) I will turn off the camera and sometimes the problem will correct itself, but only for a few shots. During this time I will try to go for a shot and I can’t see thru the viewfinder (like the camera is in mirror lockup) so I shut the camera off and try again. I have also tried to rotate the lens while this problem occurs (possibly to clean the contacts) sometimes the problem will clear and be a Good Camera for a few shots (3-4) and then the gremlin will return to “Bad Camera”. (at times) When I go for a shot, I can hear the auto focus beep and the shutter activate, but no pics on the back. Other times I will not get an audible beep for focus and I cannot activate the shutter release.
When I am having this problem I have noticed that the camera will start taking pics on its own 2-3-4 in a row until I shut the camera of and restart it again. When this problem occurs the shots are not equally spaced, it will shoot and then wait 30 sec. shoot, wait for a minute shoot 2 times in a row, wait 3 minutes fire again almost like an electrical problem.
The last shoot I had (2-18-2014) I shot over 200 pics and when I got home to process these files I noticed that the CF card had recorded only approx.. 89 files and the SD card had recorded in excess of 200 pics which is the the total of what I had taken.
I must say that this camera has been great for all the times I have asked it to do the job, but now it has been giving me a little problem and I would certainly love to have my friend back.

Where did you purchase the BG-E11?

Have you tried it without the grip?

it may be your CF card is on its way out have you tried a different CF card?

This was purchased @ B&H IN NYC. I have not thought to remove the grip but that does sound like a positive step to at least prove its not an electrical problem..........thank you

yes, I did try a different CF card and thought that was the problem was solved, but the gremlin returned after a few shots were taken.

I would remove the grip and try a brand-new battery. This sounds like a power problem. Most of the symptoms sound like low power other than this one:

Does this happen even if you are in single-shot mode?

In any case, if a new battery does not address it, I think it is likely to be an electrical problem that requires a trip to the repair shop.

Yes, the camera is in single mode with different batteries. That is the last suggestion I really wanted to hear, but I think you are correct, I think I have to just bite the bullet and send it off. Let the fun begin...
