Which iMac do you have?

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Backup and storage...two different things that should never be mixed on the same drive.

For storage of my libraries I use LaCie 2Big 6TG in RAID 1 mode for 3TB mirrored. Mirroring is about high availability...not backup.

For backup I use a 3TB Time Capsule locally. I do not have off site backup. If you are a pro, or want the last step in security, you want off site backup as well.

for now my externals are a few 3TB Seagate Back-Up Plus on Thunderbolt docks. They offer then in USB 2, USB3, FW800 and TB docking stations. They are not my backup but I use one for iTunes, One for current years photos (backed up of course) and one for misc other junk.

I also have a 3TB Time Capsule for my main drive and my macbook backup on time machine.

I use THIS (external link) for storage and a 3 TB Time Capsule for back up. Both work very well.

I use a Time Capsule for my work systems and a Drobo for my iMac/photo library.
