Agree with the others, your shots are always class. Can't put my finger on exactly what it is about them but they always stand out here and on the 5d3 thread too

Yes indeed - Denn_Ice's work is amazing. One thing that really stands out about his work, in my view, is that he has mastered something that eludes the vast majority of us: a strong signature style. A look so familiar that one merely needs a brief glimpse of an image to know exactly who created it. To my knowledge and opinion there are precious few here at POTN with as distinctive or as successful signature style.

Truly appreciate the love. I definitely enjoy showing my work here and its comments like these that keep me going.
Thank you

Anyone use the Sigma 18-35 with any of the A7 cameras? Wondering if the metabones adapter will allow that combo. Unsure if I should hold on to the 18-35 or get the Sigma 35 1.4 that I can use on both my Canon crop and Sony A7\R\S camera.

The metabones will allow the Sigma 18-35 to mount. Unless you have the auto crop mode set on (many of us have that turned off as it can be annoying with FF lenses) you will get the usual heavy vignetting that this lens produces on any FF body.

But yes, it will mount and work

Guys,

I have a lens coming from Japan. According to the tracking it's in the San Francisco customs now. How many days usually it will come out from the customs? Also, do i have to pay for a $489 worth of used lens?

vinz, I bought a few of my FD lenses from japan, took about a week to a week and a half, total time from order. Nothing too extreme, and didnt pay anything for customs. They were less than 100 dollars though, nothing that pricey.

hey david, need a mini review, how does the aperture ring work, do you know what your current aperture is, is there precise control? How is the IQ? Is flare bad on the lens?

Too early for me to give a review - I need more quality time with it. It seems very sharp but it does flare when subjected to direct light source. I'll probably be doing the old take-two-shots technique (one with the light shielded to mask out the flare). Partially obscuring the light source, as below, also eliminates the flare.

The aperture dial (on the Metabones adapter) is very smooth, but there is no way of knowing what exact aperture you're on. The other problem with the adapter is that it has no electronics, which means no communication with the camera (no recorded lens EXIF data). That's a bit of a bummer as it renders lens profiles in apps like Lightroom ineffective as Lightroom doesn't know what focal length or aperture was used to automate neutralizing distortion and vignetting.

Another with the 14-24mm. I hate shooting at noon, but at least autumn noon is much nicer than noon in summer.

really sharp. if you add sharpening, be careful not to oversharpen it. it's also considered a distraction.

i'm using high pass on sharpening then to control it, i just reduce the opacity according to taste.

Thanks!

Interesting review. It looks like a winner! I'm not sure how to interpret the comparison between the Zony 16-35 and Canon 16-35 since there is a significant resolution difference between the two cameras (5D III vs. a7R).

Just for giggles I did a little comparison including the 14-24mm:

Thoughts?
