Does anyone see any contax/sony adapters that have the focus confirmation chip installed?
I see an automatic contax g/sony adapter and just manual contax to sony adapter, but nothing with the focus confirmation chip.

I'm hoping it plays well with the ND throttle. I'm going to get a G to EF adapter, and use with EF to E mount ND throttle. If that works well, then I will buy the 14-24. No way I'm investing in 150mm filters, I find that 100mm are large and cumbersome enough, I really dont want to deal with large filters in the field. I'm guessing david already has a 150mm set to use with his 17tse.

I hear you Charlie. I sometimes think that I should get a regular screw on cpl for convenience and easy access but keep telling myself I spent $$$ on a lee already and that its superior quality.

I also will admit that I do not use filters very much so if anything I shouldn't worry too much about filters on the 14-24. if I need then I can switch to 24-70. been meaning to get a nikon adapter for a7, but.. cost is as much as a decent lens

I want to use my sigma 35 1.4 instead of lugging the d800 around hehe.

Gene. I just noticed the FE 55 and FE 35 have the same filter thread size (49). if you take off the 55mm's and place it on the 35 w/o the odd hood, itll fit.

You're absolutely right DT...and more importantly to me, the lens cap of the FE 55 lens also fits the FE 35. Thanks for noticing that. I'll take a shot or two shortly using the hood of the FE 55 mounted on the FE 35 to verify if there is any vignetting or not. I do know that you can't place the hood on the FE 35 reversed since the hood is longer than the lens itself. :D

I wish I had known about the FE 55 lens cap working on the FE 35 lens a couple of weeks ago. Somehow, the odd hood of the FE 35 came apart in two pieces unbeknownst to me. One half of the hood stayed attached to the camera and the other half, including the cap was lost. Of course to get a new cap, a new hood was needed as well. That cost me a total of $101.85, $8.74 for a new cap, $93.11 for a new hood, $8.71 tax and $6.95 for shipping.

I will order a 49mm Sony lens cap at $6.99 from B&H as insurance for when the new Sony FE 35 cap/hood falls apart.

Edit: I just ordered a replacement Sony 49mm front lens cap through Amazon and will get it this Monday for a total of $7.55.

Here are a couple of shots showing the Sony FE 35mm lens first with just the FE 55mm lens cap mounted and then one with both lens cap and hood. The third image is a vignetting test shot I took with this hood in place. I did no lens corrections or straightening to show the image just as it was taken. I see no vignetting with the FE 55mm hood mounted on the FE 35mm lens.

Got a chance to visit the first ever NYC Festival of Lights (pretty funny since the city is always lit up).

Found a stair case leading into the building behind this shot to set the tripod down. You can see into the tunnel as well as the NYC street vendors invited to the event. And it wasnt tuesday AM so i was able to park the tripod there :)

wait, Gene. did you get and had to buy a replacement hood for the 35mm?

I know what you mean, I had the same problem. I was looking through my old post that I did regarding that issue but cant find it to link. What I did was call up Sony support and requested a free replacement. its not your fault, its an issue and with poor QA. lens is still under warranty (1 year). id do it right away before it's too late. not sure when you got your 35mm but the year should almost be up. you don't need to show pictures, they just need to know the serial# of your lens and what part. (ALC-SH129)

edit: finally found the post I did. 30 minutes wasted to find out it was not in this thread lol zzzz fail.
https://photography-on-the.net …p=17109860&postcount=2134

and you are welcome, glad I could be of help ;D but you also thought of using the 55 hood too so thanks for that. it actually looks nice hehe

Leaving Monday morning for 5 days of paddle camping in a swamp....to safely use the a7r it will have to ride out the trip in the hull of a kayak. I'm thinking double dry-bag with moisture dessicants in the inner dry bag. Woudn't you think this is OK.
My other option is to leave the A7r in the car at a put-in where Billy-Joe-Bob or his brother Darryl (and Darryl has a twin names Darryl) might bust windows and grab contents.
Thoughs appreciated.
