It just looks much more natural and almost like film. Canon sensors always seemed to have lines and patterns in the noise and dark parts (at least the ones i've tried).. Sony A7RII | Sony A7S

Vinz, you do awesome work. On this shot, I'm seeing a bit of magenta tint. Was that intentional? - Alfredo -

Thanks for the write up. I've been on the fence between the A7R, A7S, or the A9/A7R II unreleased mystery camera. Im in no hurry to purchase yet, but I keep flipping back and forth. Based on your review, Im almost certain the A7R is the camera for me. However I will wait and see what they release in the next coming months. https://500px.com/chriskennedydotphoto

But not everything i do is requiring 36mpx. Before i had the A7R i was thinking that i'd never buy the A7S, unlike the A7R which ive been wanting since it came out. However as a second body beside my landscape and fineart photography im liking it a lot! Sony A7RII | Sony A7S

It is just the same when people shot on manual lenses on film bodies except for the magnify...they had a focus screen and had to judge by eye rather than the nice instant "go for the place with the peaking is at". I think I can probably manual focus a shot on the a7s in around 5 seconds from raising the camera. I do shoot quite a bit of film mind so that may have helped! I do the same with my medium format with the waist level. You drop the magnifying glass (which is an actual magnifying glass), focus on the thing you want to focus on, push the magnifying glass back in place, compose and then hit the shutter and pray you judged the light right. It may take some practice, but the results from manual zoomed focus so far for me have well outdone even the 5D MK IIIs auto centre point when it comes to shooting like ISO 12800 F2 1/160: ![]() Agree to disagree... with some practice the magnify option isn't necessary the majority of the time. I shoot entirely with MF glass and on average it takes me 1-2 seconds max for accurate focus just using peaking on low or not at all depending on the lighting. vinmunoz wrote in post #17476189 not bad but i expect it to be more clean coming from A7S. not your fault. Just looking at how the A7S perform.A resampled 36mp might yeld the same result at the same ISO level. Having owned both I can tell you straight up that there's no comparison past ISO 3200 unless you convert to B&W. The a7S files are usable in full color all the way up to (and beyond many timed) ISO 25,600. Fuji X-T3 // Fuji X-Pro2 (Full Spectrum) // Fuji X-H1 // Fuji X-T1
