Heya,

Just leave it set to one shot or continuous or whatever you want. You don't need to set it to remote shutter/timer. Then just press the button on the release.

The release functions as an extension of the normal shutter button you have. Unless you have a fancy release with a built in digital timer and stuff and set it to do something different.

Edit: Sorry I just realized you didn't specify if you were using a wired release, or a wireless. My suggestion above applies to wired. I have the 650D and a wired generic release. Works instantly as an extension of the shutter release button on the camera and follows the camera's settings whatever they are.

Very best,

Which remote do you have?

Even though it is set to "10 sec" the RC-6 Infrared Remote will fire immediately or with a 2 second delay. There is a switch on the back to make the choice. If you have an RC-5 it will only fire with a 2 second delay.

have you tried different modes like bulb? it may depend on the remote, the wireless yongnuo remote shutter/flash allows any combination
