It was ever so slightly overcast during this transit and was shooting at 1600ISO to get the shutter I wanted (1/1600), and 5 seconds after the transit the clouds completely parted... grumble grumble.

Also was a little late on the shutter and missed the beginning of the transit by .5s, which is why I only got the second half of the transit. :( Have to remember to start a second before next time.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you!

The camera I'm using is a 7D with a Sigma 150-500 + 1.4x Tele. As for filter I'm using a DIY Baader Solar filter an Astronomy Prof at WKU assisted me with. It's not much to look at... but it works like a champ.

I am amazed by the detail of ISS you captured.
Very nice.
Way to go and please leave warning here for the next passage as it might be useful to others in vicinity.

I like the shot, but I am slightly confused as the what the other years are in the photo. Any input on this?

Thanks, That's how we do things in Kentucky. Who needs a $1000 filter when you have a PVC pipe and duct tape!

Thanks Samsen, I was too considering the cloud coverage.

Not a bad idea... might actually be better to post it on that Twitter account I never use since I ignore transits more that 50miles from my house. 2 hours of driving for something that lasts at most 1.3s is my limit.

Have you used CalSky for local transit predictions? I've started using that in addition to the clunky Java applet and it works pretty well once I got used to it.

Thanks trewyn, those are Active Regions (AR) numbers and are what NOAA uses to keep track of sun spots and other activity on the sun. Now that I've looked more into it, they should actually be labeled AR1xxxx as in AR11981. The first site I found(http://www.solarham.com (external link)) had them listed as 4 digits and that's what I've been labeling them as.

I'll start naming them properly in the future.

Thanks,
Aaron
