What lens from any manufacturer would you like to see reintroduced or updated?

Canon 28-105 at f/2.8

50 1.0L II with stunning IQ compared to the mark I.

Oh, and the 100-400L mark II w/ a 4 stop IS system and 70-300L like IQ.

I'd like to see updates to:

Canon 50mm f/1.4 (better build quality, ring USM, improved sharpness)
Canon EF-S 17-55mm (again, L-like build would be nice)
Canon 85mm f/1.8 (sharpness and chromatic aberration)
Canon 28mm f/1.8 (sharpness wide open)

All without price hikes. (I can dream!)

100-400L II is the only lens i'm waiting for and will be buying soon after release.

Canon 28-70 2.8L. It was wonderfull.

500mm f/5.6L IS - create new lens
400mm f/5.6L - update with IS
200mm f/1.8L - rebirth with IS
50mm f/1.0L - rebirth

I have only handled in the store, but I would like to see an updated or replacement 100-400L without the push-pull design. Maybe a twist zoom 100-500mm f/4-5.6L IS with the newer 4 stop IS.

Agreed with both. I have never tried the 200mm f1.8 but it is tempting.
I also want a new 50mm f1.0 or a faster, non-fly-by-wire AF to replace the f1.2 lens.

Agreed with both. I have never tried the 200L f1.8 but it is tempting.
I would also like a new 50mm f1.0 lens. I have not found a good deal on the old 50L 1.0 yet.
Or a faster; non-fly-by-wire AF, replacement to the current 50L and 85L f1.2 lenses.
I would consider a 85L II (with IS) as I have very happy with my 100L handheld.

Of course I don't think I see a bad lens idea in this thread yet or one that I wouldn't want on my "to buy" list.

it would be kind of cool to update the mpe65 with the newest optics
and the 24 ex II with better light control

I'd like an equivalent to the Canon 135mm f/2, with a reasonable price, that would fit Nikon cameras (so probably not one made by Nikon).

What does Canon have to do with Zeiss lenses? Question should be, will Zeiss go for it?

If I remember, according to Zeiss, they are unable to make AF lenses for Nikon or Canon for legal reasons.
